As a precautionary measure, the government declared a holiday for all primary schools (class 1 to 5) in Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts. A circular for the closure of Pre-KG, LKG and UKG schools of Bangalore Urban districts until further orders had been issued on Sunday.
BENGALURU: Karnataka reported its first confirmed case of novel Coronavirus on Monday with the state government announcing that a software engineer from Bengaluru who recently returned from the USA has contracted the virus. The 40-year-old man quarantined and treated at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) in the city is stable, said Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar. The wife and daughter of the infected person who has shown disease symptoms too have been admitted to the isolation ward and their test reports are awaited. A colleague of the affected person who travelled along with him to the USA and back too has been put under observation although he is asymptomatic, the minister said.
The 76-year-old man who died two days ago in Karnataka while being treated for suspected coronavirus has become India’s first COVID-19 fatality with his samples taken earlier confirming the infection, the state government said on Thursday. State Health Minister B Sriramulu in a tweet said the necessary contact tracing, isolation & other measures as per protocol were being taken.
